U.S. Army Dental Corps

Description Founded in 1911, the U.S. Army Dental Corps supports America’s global military mission by providing comprehensive dental care for soldiers and their families. Serving more than 450,000 active-duty Army personnel and their families each year, the Dental Corps is the largest dental program in the world. For more than 90 years, it has provided routine and acute dental care to sustain the efforts America’s warriors stationed at home and abroad. Today, the Dental Corps is staffed by more than 2,500 officers and enlisted personnel. This coin salutes the Dental Corps’ mission to support and sustain the strength of America’s fighting forces throughout the word. Set against a maroon enameled backdrop, the obverse features the caduceus, the universal symbol of the medical profession. The reverse bears the official seal of the U.S. Army. Minted in a brass alloy, this coin is imbued on both sides with brightly colored enamel. Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
